When you press the blue Convert to JPEG button, the Mac will save a copy of the image to the same destination folder (in our case, the Desktop). The image here will drop from 10.3MB to only 163KB – around a hundredth of its original size! Yet, the image will still look perfectly good for publishing online or sharing via email. Large is normally a good choice, as it keeps the image looking sharp while massively reducing its size. The Image Size drop-down will give you a range of sizes to choose from. To change the size of your image using numerical aspect ratios, simply click on the box to the right of the width and height fields and type any value. JPEG is the most commonly used image format, so go with that. If you plan to print your image or simply want it to retain as much of its quality as possible, consider raising the resolution. Resolution is measured in pixels per inch (also called dots per inch or dpi). Image size can be expressed in pixels, inches, cm, mm. You can now enter the desired width and height of the image. Custom sizes: To manually pick a size, set the Fit Into menu to Custom. When you press Convert Image, a small window should appear asking you to pick an image format and size. Click the Tools menu and select Adjust Size. Image size presets: To fit the image into a predefined size, use the Fit into: dropdown menu to select a common image size, then click or tap the OK button.
